I have a crush on this car, and I’m curious as to how they perform on the track. They’re such unicorns apparently that there are pretty close to zero useful performance review videos out there. All I could find was this Dutch one.

Clarkson did a piece on these on Top Gear, apparently they’re awful - the gist of it was that it’s not comfy enough to be a true GT or sporty enough to be a handling machine. Fuck it though! They’re SO cool.

From what I’ve heard, they’re terrible to drive.

But they’re gorgeous cars, and I want an Alpina Z8.

If we all go in on a house together, I vote this be the first car we buy/share.

I wonder if the chassis could be brought up to snuff. If they weren’t so god-awful expensive... think of what a well-sorted one with mods would be like!

“Terrible to drive” is so relative and subjective. They weren’t built to be tracked. It was basically an extremely low-volume design exercise.

Fun fact, BMW predicted it would be an instant classic and created a massive stockpile of parts to help sell that idea.

If you watch the /Drive from yesterday, they said the First-Generation Run flat tires wrecked the ride. They said the car was miles better if you added modern performance tires.
